Changing weather…

Hi family! Just thought I would send some updates. We are busy in service and getting to know the friends. Even the very little ones…

Bryan bonding with little Kavyn.

we also find the weather here so interesting! It changes drastically throughout the day. Can be crazy gray and dreary then the sun comes out and changes everything. I wondered why the garages are as big as their houses (or bigger) around here. One guy in service told me it’s so we can work out of the weather.

love you all! Come for a visit!!🦋

White caps on the river…

The wind is blowing from the west making white caps on the river and the leaves are mostly down. Guess we are going to experience our first winter since..about 30 years. Wow, that makes me feel old.

Bryan did the watchtower lesson on Sunday. He had great participation! Ahead of time he got the young people lined up to read the scriptures, we had noticed they barely answered at meetings. Bryan’s bible questions and attention to the young ones has really perked them up! We were out to eat with some from the congregation here in a local restaurant and our waitress was a grandmother of a young fatherless boy in the the Hall named Tate who is like 11 or 12 yrs old.  So the grandmother is not a witness but when she was introduced to us she said to Bryan, “oh your the one my grandson said is his best friend!” You know Bryan loved that!

We had dinner last night at a young family’s house out by Rattle Snake mountain. They have 2 young girls, the brother is a ministerial servent about in his mid 30’s. Anyway they are 4th generation dry wheat farmers. They have thousands of acreas. It was very interesting learning about that lifestyle. It is very consuming.

We (with the use of the internet) figured out the distance from Mt Adams (the big mountain we see the best from here) to the tri-cities is about the length of Jerusalem to Mt Hermon in Israel. With the river running thru it like the Jorden river. It gives a visual to think about.

love you all🦋

Day trip…

Since the weather could be changing fast and the mountain roads accumulating snow, we decided to take a road trip. The Easterly’s were our tour guides. He knows so much of the history around here. We drove west to a little high country old town called Bickleton. We ate at the Bluebird cafe. They have bluebirds that come every summer and bluebird houses everywhere. As we continued around every bend and over every rise was an amazing display of Jehovah’s artistry. At one point all along the horizon we could see Mt Hood in Oregon, Mt St Helens, and Mt Adams. It was unbelievable.  Then we made a big loop and came back east down thru the Yakima Indian reservation where we saw so many wild horses!

Back in South Carolina our Susan’s wonderful bible student got babtized! What a day!🦋

Beautiful day…

So the rainy week we had last week is gone and it has been bright and sunny, though a little cool and breezy. But have enjoyed our days in service! We went up on Horse Heaven Hills and did some territory clear to the Oregon border! Houses are at least a mile apart if not more. The word comes to mind…exspansive. You can see for miles and miles. Very different for this South Carolina girl.

That is Jamie. Mother of two teenagers and husband is not a witness. She just started pioneering this September. She is a ray of sunshine ☀️! Her kids are doing great in the truth.

We have had some good calls and a lot of “do not calls”. Now we have to try to find the good calls home again. Guess people are about the same everywhere. Busy trying to keep themselves distracted from admitting the world is a mess.

Keep up the good work everybody! Love you all!🦋

The scenery…

Just wanted to show you the land around here. We ran to the Tri-Cities this afternoon and it is such a pretty drive! But pictures barely do it justice.

The hills roll softly, like when someone holds a sheet up in the wind.
On the way back it started to rain…

But the sun was shining through right about where we live.

It was lovely. Speaking of lovely, had to take a picture of two of my favorite ladies here…Barb Moore and our landlady, Kathy Easterly(with the long hair) giving their presentation at the meeting last night. 🦋

Changes…

Just talked to Kyle as all his Aunties were packing his suit cases and he retreated to the closet to FaceTime us. 🤣 the family had a turkey dinner send off party for him. Boy, you sure can’t imagine what is in store in life, or where we can be a few months from now, when we are trying to keep up with the “celestial chariot”! Last June, who knew before the end of this year Bryan and me would be living in Washington state and Kyle would be in the Caribbean doing relief work. Things can change so fast. And we can only handle it, without braking down, because Jehovah is our God. Everywhere we go in his service we gain new amazing friends and experiences. And we feel at home. But no worries,we always end up back together again. And it will be a grand party!!🦋

See you soon🌺

C.O. Visit….

Howdy folks! Been busy out here exploring far reaches of the territory and trying to find rightly disposed ones. Bryan developed a friendship with a guy working in a conaco gas station because he’s from North Carolina, (being a southerner and all) and so this week he gave him a contact card to tell him of the web site and he looked up and said “Are you a Brother?” Turns out his Grandmas a Witness and he was sorta raised around it! Happiness ensued and he may come tomorrow to the CO’s talk!

The CO and wife are so fun and sweet! Took a picture of our pioneer meeting. We have 16 auxiliary pioneers this month.

Pioneer meeting today. The CO’s wife Melissa standing in the back.
Kingdom Hall. Built the same year as The one Ravenel goes to.

It’s been cold and damp here. I thought this was a desert! Because of being in this valley the wet fog seems to hang out in the winter. But I bought me a cozy sherpa blanket from Costco to curl up with in our little home, with a glass of hot tea.🦋

Frosty morning.

Flying under the radar…

Howdy folks! So we have been going in service and checking out our surroundings. It has such a unique beauty here. I really love the feel of this valley surrounded by hills with the two big mountains standing guard like quiet, strong sentinels. The winds have picked up blowing down the leaves, and a cold front is coming this weekend with chance of snow. You heard me…snow.😳 Just flurries, but still!

So service…is a little different. We are just trying to get the feel of the friends and their way of doing things. They definitely take coffee breaks. Can’t wait to get some calls and bible studies. Everything seems so different from where we were for 23 yrs, the meetings, service arrangements…guess that is to be expected. The little 7yr old granddaughter of our landlord wants to “bible study” with me on Monday nights after school. Reading the brochures with me. Her parents are not in the truth. So if I can keep her attention that should be fun! She’s a busy one.

So as we get prepared for winter, Kyle is off to the Caribbean for relief work, flying to Turks and Cacoes on November 15th! Glad he is busy, but missing him terribly.

Love you all!!🦋
